How to use this calculator

Type the name and monthly price of each subscription you pay for — streaming, music, cloud storage, apps, gym, software. Leave unused rows blank; they are ignored. For yearly-billed plans, divide the annual price by 12 and enter that.

Totals update instantly as you type. The table ranks your subscriptions from priciest to cheapest and shows each plan's share of the total, so the biggest drain is obvious.

How this is calculated

  • Monthly total = sum of all entered subscription costs.
  • Yearly total = monthly total × 12.
  • Per-day cost = yearly total ÷ 365.
  • Share = plan's monthly cost ÷ monthly total × 100.
  • Most expensive = the plan with the highest monthly cost.

Rows with no name and no cost are skipped. The result is an estimate based on current prices; taxes, price hikes, or bundled discounts are not modeled.

Worked example

Inputs: Netflix $15.49, Spotify $11.99, Amazon Prime $39.99, iCloud+ $2.99.

Monthly = 15.49 + 11.99 + 39.99 + 2.99 = $70.46; yearly = 70.46 × 12 = $845.52; per day = 845.52 ÷ 365 ≈ $2.32. The most expensive is Amazon Prime at $39.99 — 56.8% of the total, or $479.88 a year on its own.

Reference data

This tool is pure math and uses no external data tables. The only constants applied are 12 months per year and 365 days per year. Subscription prices are not assumed — the default values are editable placeholders and your own numbers drive every result.

Method & sources

Straight arithmetic on the prices you enter — addition, multiplication by 12, and division by 365. All results are computed live in your browser; figures labeled (est.) reflect the stated monthly-average convention.

  • No external data is used. All figures labeled (est.) are estimates from the stated assumptions.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my total subscription spending?

Add up every subscription's monthly cost for the monthly total, multiply by 12 for the yearly total, and divide the yearly total by 365 for the per-day cost. List each plan in the calculator above — it totals, ranks, and finds your most expensive subscription automatically.

Should I count yearly-billed subscriptions?

Yes. Convert a yearly-billed plan to monthly by dividing the annual price by 12, then enter that figure. That keeps the yearly total exact and the monthly total a true average.

What counts as a subscription here?

Anything billed on a schedule: streaming services, music apps, cloud storage, gym memberships, app subscriptions, delivery memberships, and software plans. If it charges your card automatically, include it.

How can I cut my subscription spending?

Start with the most expensive subscription this calculator flags, then cancel plans you have not used in the last month, switch annual-billed plans to monthly only if you actually need them, and look for free or bundled alternatives before re-adding anything.

Is the per-day cost exact or an estimate?

It is an estimate. The yearly total is monthly × 12 and the per-day cost is yearly ÷ 365, so months are treated as exactly one-twelfth of a year. That is the correct average for budgeting.
