How it works
Shoe sizing looks chaotic, but each system is built on foot length. US and UK sizes are measured in barleycorns (1/3 inch) from a last, which is why they step in halves and thirds; EU sizes use the Paris point (2/3 cm ≈ 0.667 cm) and CM sizes are simply the foot length in centimeters. The converter below uses standard retail conversion charts for each group, so every conversion is a lookup from a consistent, checked table — no rounding errors.
The key relationships this table encodes: on a men's foot, UK = US − 1 (men's US 8 = UK 7); on a women's foot, UK = US − 2 (women's US 8 = UK 6); and kids' UK sizes run about half a size under US (8K = UK 7.5). EU sizes advance one full Paris point per US full size for men (+33 offset) and women (+30.5 offset). What is a US size 8 in UK?
It depends on whether it's a men's or women's size. A men's US 8 equals a UK 7 (EU 41, 26.0 cm foot), while a women's US 8 equals a UK 6 (EU 38.5, 24.5 cm foot). That's because men's UK sizes run one full size below US, and women's run two.
Are EU shoe sizes the same for men and women?
